[Session 2] Can democracy be democratic without including everyone? NO!
When you think of democracy, what do you think of? Everyone having the possibility to participate in the political life of their country?
Think again: in many so-called democracies, the situation is far from democratic. MigrantsZ are often denied any meaningful participation in society. Palestinians live in a state of apartheid. Women across the world are often considered second class citizens. Join this session to hear from leading activists and politicians working for a fairer world, one that would be truly equal and democratic.
The panelists will seek to extract valuable lessons that countries around the world should apply to grant themselves the title of inclusive democracies towards all people. They will then join smaller discussions with participants to deep dive into their work and what we should all do to make democracy ... well democratic!
Format: 40 min panel discussion, 25 mins breakout groups moderated by the panelists, 25 min reconvening to conclude in the main digital room.
