[Session 8] How to rebuild democracy after a crisis?
In the last decades, crises have shaken entire countries and their governments, but they can also provide the necessary grounds to rebuild, strengthen and ensure future democracy and freedoms. From wars to internal conflict, how can democracies stand up again strong? What lessons can countries learn from these disasters?
Join our speakers to deep-dive into this. They will extract lessons from the post-reunification period in Germany and the FARC deal in Colombia. They will discuss the hopes and opportunities that countries on their knees, such as Lebanon, can seize to create a better future. Finally, they will examine how to build democracy from scratch in the future, in some of the most disenfranchised places on earth, such as Syria.
